questions

If I go to therapy does it mean there is something wrong with me?

No! Many people seek out therapy and it does not mean there is anything wrong with you. Mental illness and mental health is slowly being de-stigmatized due to the amount of people beginning to talk openly about their struggles. It is normal to have life changes that may sometimes feel unmanageable and there is nothing wrong with reaching out for help!

Why do I need a therapist to help me solve my problems?

The focus of therapy is not on solving problems for you, but rather guiding you to be able to solve your problems on your own and more efficiently. This is done through support and expertise. The goal of therapy is to steer you away from dependence and closer towards self-sufficiency!

When should someone seek therapy?

There are many reasons why someone might reach out for help. Work stress, family changes, self-esteem issues, communication issues. These are just a few examples. Some broader reasons might be; emotional difficulty affecting their daily lives, engaging in self-destructive behavior, overwhelmed by difficulties of life, or struggle with physical symptoms of anxiety or depression. The list is endless and there is usually no wrong reason to engage in therapy. If you think you would benefit from therapy, reach out!

Why weekly sessions?

I find it most helpful for clients to start our therapeutic journey with weekly sessions, creating a safe space where we can build a strong connection filled with trust and comfort. As we navigate through months or even years of progress together, we can be flexible with our schedule, shifting to biweekly or monthly sessions based on what suits you best. For our first six months, let's stick to weekly meet-ups to keep that momentum going in our collaborative journey!

What can I expect from my first therapy session?

Starting therapy can be intimidating at first but well worth it! You can expect some questions on why you are seeking help at this time as well as some questions about past history. I will do my best to create a safe environment where you feel comfortable sharing as much information as you’d like (the more you put into therapy the more you will get out!).

How much will therapy cost? Do you take insurance?

Feel free to reach out to inquire about my private rate! Upon your inquiry, I'll provide you with a comprehensive Good Faith Estimate, ensuring transparency regarding session costs. Additionally, I accommodate certain insurance plans and can prepare super bills upon request for your convenience.
